We are fighting for a Labour victory at the next general election. The only alternative government to the Coalition parties – and UKIP – will be a Labour government. Yet, on issues from cuts to migrants’ rights, the Labour Party is failing to stand up for the interests of the working class. But Labour remains linked to workers’ basic class organisations, trade unions. If the unions fought for their policies they could change the party’s direction.
How can socialists combine fighting for a Labour victory with making clear working-class demands, mobilising workers’ organisations to fight, and using the election to raise the profile of a socialist alternative to capitalism?
Plenty of time for discussion. Hope to see you there!
